Here's Simon

Here is Simon the cockatiel.  He is a regular grey, aged one.  I rehomed him last week from a private house in Southampton.  He's a funny little character, loves to whistle and sing and chat away at times too.  He is super friendly, but could do with being tamed up some more.

Here he is:

Peter White at The Concorde Club

Last night was a really fun night at the Concorde Club, with Peter White and his band.  This is the third year that I have seen them play; all fantastic musicians, and a great evening was had by a packed enthusiastic audience.  They played for two and a half hours and were really enjoying themselves, as you can probably see from some of the photos!

This is Joe "Bongo" Beckett - he is a world class percussionist - just a shame I couldn't get a decent photo of him

Big Band

Last night we had another enjoyable night at the Concorde Club and enjoyed the sounds of Pete Cater and his Big Band reviving Buddy Rich and his orchestra.  15 members in all, big band!!  I took my camera along with me, after a few months off, and took these last night:

Cheeky girl loves her art

Soph has always enjoyed art and craft and is now doing graphic design GCSE and really enjoying it. She's really creative and comes up with some great designs. She and I keep talking about doing some painting together. In half term I'm going to start a painting for TBone - I haven't done any painting for years - shame on me - and I'm hoping Soph will do some with me. She seems very interested that I love art and seems as proud of her mum's work as I am of hers! There are many artists in my family so I'm really pleased Soph is keeping the tradition alive.

Polly Update!

Breaking news ... Polly has climbed onto TBone's shoulder from her stick in the last hour and stayed there for ages!!!! What a fantastic moment to see .. ! She looks so happy and relaxed. She is definitely well on the way to becoming a tame cockatiel!

Polly

Today I bid farewell to Polly who has gone to live with TBone, Herman, Charlie and TBone. My decision but nice for Hermy that he will have some cockatiel company. She has come on so well in the past month since she's had her wings clipped and now a flutter away from taming up - and if anyone can tame her I think Tbone can! She is a beautiful bird and much more relaxed now so I am hoping that she will be happy with Herman - I'm sure she will - I felt really mean taking her away from him before, so hopefully they will get on great and be company for each other. I'll still see her so its not like she's gone forever. Bless little Polly xx

Rose Royce Do Your Dance

Buddy Greco - The Lady is a Tramp [Live @ Later with Jools Holland] [HD]

This week has been a great week at the Concorde Club, and I am now a member whoop whoop!  Thank you so much Brian!!! xx I had the pleasure of seeing Buddy Greco on Wednesday - what a legend!!! Absolutely loved the evening, he was a real star, 86 years young and still bringing the house down with his music and charm.  A great evening of music, and I didn't realise I would know all of them already.

Then last night I went to see Gwen Dickey, formerly lead singer of Rose Royce back in the 1970s.  She was amazing, such a strong powerful voice and she didn't look any different from all those years ago!  She was a lovely lady too and hung around for ages afterwards just chatting to all and having her photo taken with anyone that wished to.  A really lovely girl.

So, a great week musically..... so enjoy some Buddy Greco

Rocko settles in

Rocko has been here a week now and what a little character he is!!  He chats away to the other cockatiels, whistles, wolf whistles and generally makes me laugh out loud!  What a funny little bird he is!  He was very quiet at the weekend when we were away, and I can only think that he was missing his new friends, although he did have Herman for company.  He was a bit wary of the conures and hissed at them!  He is very photogenic, although he was quite sleepy at the weekend so it was difficult to take some good ones.  I did get a few photos though, and here are some of my favourites:

Rocko

Yesterday we drove to Derby to meet Rocko and to bring him back to Wiltshire and then on to Hampshire - a trip of nearly 400 miles. He's an amazing little bird, he is very friendly, he chatters away, sings and is so tame. I think he is extremely handsome too. Will write more when he's settled in and I will have to post a video of him singing and whistling!

Ted Loves His Greens!

Ted's coming on so well now, and has even resorted to joining me for dinner!  Here he is enjoying some salad

Butterflies and bumblebees

Last weekend the buddleia bush outside TBone's flat was absolutely covered in butterflies - no wonder they call it the butterfly bush!

TBone is so tame

For a parent raised conure, it's amazing that TBone is as tame as he is.  Lots and lots of love and understanding from his human Dad!! He is a funny little bird, often grouchy, and had a very testing adolescence, but he has turned into the most delightful little character.  Here he is in his Dad's hand!

TBone and Charlie the conures have come to stay

TBone and Charlie have come to stay for a week or two while TBone senior gets on with the painting. They are such fun - full of mischief, curiousity and madness!!

Here they are wrecking my paper on Sunday evening but I forgave them that as they amused me haha

Even more progress with Ted

Yesterday I came home from a weekend away and Ted flew to me almost immediately when I let him out. He then stayed with me on and off (although I am looking after T-bone and Charlie the conures as well so am needing to share my time out.

Ted repeated this today so I would say he's decided he likes me!

Progress today with the little man ...

Ted started flying to me yesterday , urged on with millet! He stayed with me quite a while yesterday on a couple of occasions . Today he was out of his cage for probably the longest period of time - about 8 hours or more. He seemed to enjoy himself today and even took a look when I was cleaning out his cage - stopping to have a good look when I took toys out for a clean! He got really close to me but didn't seem to want to have a head scratch which is something cockatiels love. A bit later I sat down and he was very keen to come over so again I tempted him with some millet. He stayed quite a while and we enjoyed each other's company. Sophie took a photo:
